You can increase the traffic that is coming to your domain name by using expired domain traffic. The process is simple. Take a few minutes to jot down URLs that may be similar in visitors to yours. Do not look up the sites, just include words that are similar. For example, if you have hearth in your domain name, similar searchers may visit the same URL with home in the name. Or if you have a site devoted to a sports team, you will want to consider URL combinations with the names of the players in them. Once you have compiled a good list, you should check out the sites. See which ones appear to be dynamic, meaning that the site owners update them often. Those sites are not likely to go away. Instead they are probably going to stay. Focus on sites that already serve as link farms or ones that look as if they are abandoned.

Then you will want to find domains with traffic from the remaining ones on your list. Use various tools online to get a daily domain traffic report for your own site and compare it to rankings for the sites in question. They have these domains on their hands and need to make something from them, so they have optimized them and let them sit.
Diverting Traffic to Your Site
Once you have identified potential domains, you should make a note of when their current registration expires. You also may want to make an offer to the person registered to the site to see if that person is willing to sell. If you can buy high traffic domain names, then you can divert that traffic to your own site. That way you are creating domain traffic for yourself and giving the visitors to the other site, who would have met with just affiliate links, content on your site. Following this process with several sites will give you a much better stream of traffic to your site. Plus you will have expended little capital for these visitors and you will continue to get them and benefit from the work of the previous site owner for a year or more without putting in any additional work on the site you already own.
